Patient Portal/PHR for Meditech

Dynamic Health IT (DHIT) and White Pine Systems (WPS) are pleased to announce a partnership to provide a cost-effective Patient Portal/Personal Health Record solution for Meditech customers.

New Orleans , LA; August 15, 2011

For approximately the cost of the Meditech CCD Exchange Suite you get:

- CCDConnect, which is a soon-to-be certified HITECH CCD module (required for Meaningful Use).

- SPINN, the Secure Personal Information & Notification Network.

CCDConnect allows Meditech hospitals to send and receive Clinical Document (CCD and CCR).  It is integrated into the Meditech clinical and financial suite of applications and extracts CCD/CCR data directly from Meditech for transmission to outside providers and HIE’s.  Inbound CCD/CCR’s are stored in a database accessible through a viewing/browse function on a Meditech custom menu. In addition, users can submit a CCD/CCR query from Meditech.

"SPINN," is a low cost, fully configurable private-labeled Secure Personal Health Record Solution.  It enables hospitals, physicians and healthcare organizations to offer a private-labeled PHR solution to their patients, without the cost or hassle of customization or system support.  Providers can pick which resources or features they want to offer to their patients.  It can be configured either as a Multi-Provider Patient Portal or as a uniquely branded Personal Health Record (PHR) system.  SPINN is built to connect with any PHR platform, including Microsoft HealthVault and Dossia.

Enhancing the SPINN solution set is a strong group of partners including Thomson Reuters (for consumer-side drug interaction checking/information), the American Institute for Preventive Medicine (for HRA/Health & Wellness programs) and Microsoft (for real-time access to HealthVault).  WPS has an even more impressive client/distributor list including Covisint, the healthcare subsidiary of Compuware, American Specialty Health, a large insurance / health and wellness company and Community Choice Health Record Bank, a regional health information exchange with 5 hospitals and 11 clinics in central Washington State.

The two products work in harmony to extract data from Meditech for display through the SPINN portal, with its configurable dashboards that allow patients, clinicians and caregivers to efficiently manage personal health information.

Parkview Community Hospital Goes Live with Dynamic Health IT CCD Solution

Clinical Document Exchange is key milestone for providers meeting ARRA HITECH goals.

New Orleans , LA; August 16, 2010 -- Parkview Community Hospital in Riverside California is now using the Dynamic Health IT (DHIT) CCDConnect product to exchange HL7 Continuity of Care (CCD) documents with Primecare in preparation for exchange with the Southern California Health Information Exchange (HIE).

CCDConnect is built on the proven technology of HL7Connect from Kestral Computing of Australia. John Ciccarelli, CIO of Parkview says:

"Exchanging clinical documents is one of our overall goals for improving the coordination of patient care. We chose DHIT and HL7Connect because of their proven track record and cost-effective CCD solution. For over 2 years, we have used DHIT for all our HL7 interface needs and have been very satisfied."

The clinical document exchange functionality is one more tool helping healthcare providers tap into the Healthcare IT stimulus money to be made available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). Funds for healthcare providers depend on “meaningful use” of healthcare information technology. A key component of meaningful use and one that needs to be demonstrated by 2011 to get maximum funding is the:

"Capability to exchange key electronic clinical information among providers of care and patient authorized entities electronically."

The DHHS rule goes on to state that this information “should be shared among providers of care and patient authorized entities electronically.”
